Even thinner, even better!
Honor already impressed last year with its Honor Magic V series and set new standards in terms of battery life and dimensions. With the successor V3, the manufacturer from the Far East has gone one better: thinner, lighter, faster, equipped with a larger battery and an even better camera, Honor has once again positioned itself at the top of the foldable segment.
Incredibly thin!
Its predecessor already outshone Samsung, Google, Oppo and the like in terms of compactness. The Honor Magic V3 now distances itself even further and is the first foldable that can be classified as a normal smartphone in terms of weight and dimensions. The device measures an incredible 156.6 x 145.3 x 4.35 mm when unfolded. The weight of 226 g is also surprisingly low. The Flagshop is also visually appealing. The front shows a fully usable display with punch hole. The back makes a high-quality impression with its vegan leather and round camera array.
Display giant
When it comes to the display, Honor shows how it should be done: A 6.43-inch LTPO panel is offered on the front, which can reduce the refresh rate to up to 1 Hz. At 5000 nits, it is very bright when required. The resolution of 2376 x 1060 is crisp and sharp. PWM dimming with up to 4320 Hz is also offered. The situation is similar on the 7.92 inch internal display, which supports PWM dimming at 3840 Hz, also relies on a 120 Hz LTPO panel and offers a resolution of 2344 x 2156. Naturally, the color reproduction is at a high level: 100% of the DCI-P3 color space is displayed.
Improved camera setup
The predecessor already impressed with a decent camera setup. This was improved once again in 2024. A 50 megapixel sensor with f/1.6 aperture and OIS is used as the main sensor. A 40-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor with f/2.2 aperture enables high-quality panoramic shots. The new model achieves a significant improvement in the telephoto lens. This now has a resolution of 50 megapixels, offers OIS and an f/3.0 aperture and supports a 3.5x optical zoom. Selfie cameras are still offered on both the front display and the inner display. These are wide-angle sensors with a resolution of 20 megapixels, which are accompanied by an f/2.2 aperture.
Flagship Processor
One thing that should nevertheless be mentioned is the built-in processor. As in previous years, Honor relies on the new flagship model from Qualcomm for the Magic V3. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 offers eight cores and a clock frequency of up to 3.4 GHz. The built-in Adreno 750 GPU chip boosts mobile games to the maximum, while the built-in UFS 4.0 memory ensures fast data throughput rates. At the same time, it has a large capacity of 512 GB. There is also 12 GB LPDDR5X RAM on board, which makes multitasking, for which foldables are designed, child's play.
Battery life & Fast Charge
In fact, the built-in battery is a real special feature of the Honor Magic V3 and should be “honored” accordingly. The special technology and the division into two separate areas allows the manufacturer to achieve a capacity of 5150 mAh despite the small casing. A battery life of well over a day is therefore guaranteed. Charging is via USB C cable with up to 66W. Wireless charging is also supported with up to 50W.
WiFi, 5G, Bluetooth & NFC
Yes, of course the Honor Magic V3 is familiar with all current standards and is equipped accordingly. Dual 5G support for a lightning-fast connection to the mobile network is provided, as is WiFi 6. Smartwatches and other gadgets can be connected via Bluetooth 5.3. An NFC chip has also been installed and allows contactless payments. High-quality stereo speakers and IPX8 certification round off the overall package.
