Enjoy using this phone. Feels smooth navigating through the device. Good battery life and at a good price. I did an unboxing and camera test on my YouTube channel: Nimodity
I purchased this to replace a 3-4 year old Samsung S21 Ultra because Samsung throttled back updates, perhaps to force sales of the S 25? This Motorola looked pretty good on paper, coming with a lot of RAM, ram boost and over 100 G of internal storage as well as a SD card slot and wireless charging. The cameras offered more MP than my S21 Ultra, plus some AI. What's not to like? Problems set in when I moved all the apps and data to the 5G. Some of the apps advised that they needed to be upgraded to run properly on Android 15. Other apps malfunctioned. The 500 GB SD card frequently vanished, requiring a restart of the phone to find it again. You can't install apps to the SD card, only photos, videos, music, docs. I used a dual pane file manager to attempt to move videos and music to the SD card manually only to be advised that this was not allowed. I suspect that the file manager isn't compatible with Android 15 or the phone doesn't like the SD card? And when I asked Amazon music to download purchased music to the SD card, repeatedly, it didn't happen. No error message, just not there. The cameras are OK under strong lighting conditions. The very best thing about this device is the "radio." By this I'm speaking of the circuits that communicate with cell towers. Our family has a home out in the woods. The last phone I owned which worked reliably there was a a "bag phone" in my car. This phone is world unlocked, may work on frequencies other phones don't, but voice, data work in this local where daylight has to be piped in. That made it worth the low price of admission. I suspect that app updates and firmware updates will make this phone far less of a hassle. As is, it's certainly worth the price.
Great phone & fast
I wasn’t expecting much for $299, but this phone blew me away! Motorola just set the bar for budget phones with insane features:✅ Battery Life is UNREAL – I get 2 full days on a single charge. It’s the best battery I’ve ever had in a phone!✅ Wireless Charging for $299?! – Most budget phones skip this, but Moto included 15W wireless charging—a game changer!✅ Super Durable & Water Resistant – IP69 rating means I can literally rinse it off under the sink. No more worrying about rain or spills!✅ Smooth 120Hz Display – Scrolling feels buttery smooth—something I never expected at this price.✅ Loud Speakers & Headphone Jack – Calls and music sound crisp and clear. Plus, 3.5mm jack & expandable storage still exist!⚠ But Here’s The Catch…❌ No OLED display – Colors are good, but not as vibrant as an OLED.❌ No 4K Video – The 50MP camera is great for photos, but only records in 1080p.Final Verdict: Best Budget Phone of 2025?If you want a long-lasting, durable phone with premium features for under $300, this is the one. It’s easily the best budget phone I’ve used!
I bought this phone to replace my Moto G Stylus 2022. I never really used the stylus and already had a 256GB card to expand the memory on this, so for $100 less than the new Stylus phone I decided this was the way to go.It appears to me pretty much like my last Motorola phone. Fairly vanilla Android with very little bloatware, which is just what I was looking for. It seems responsive and the screen looks good. It's not a flagship phone, but for less that 1/3 the cost of a new iPhone or Galaxy, it does a pretty amazing job.The only problem I've had is that I can't activate it on Spectrum. Called their support (on the phone itself interestingly enough) only to have them tell me that it isn't supported on Spectrum. They allowed me to bring my old Motorola phone to them when I switched to Spectrum, and it has worked great for the last couple of years. But when I went to check on their website if that phone was compatible, it showed it was not as well. So it really comes down to Spectrum just not wanting to support it even though it works fine. The Motorola website says it is compatible, but Spectrum won't activate it. I don't blame Motorola for that, but they should update their site to reflect it.
