I live near the beach and have been afraid to take a phone there. I find that Sonim has the undocumented feature of a hole for a lanyard (cord). With a cord tying the phone to a belt pack I feel confident about getting my feet wet without destroying my phone. I will, however, rinse off salt water.When I got bicycling I use a belt pack as a glove compartment. I have carried my little flip phone in a plastic bag in case it rains and I used hope as my only protection against impact if I fell off my bike. Now I have a phone perfect for such exercise.I have a wood shop in my garage. I always want to work with a phone available. Any other phone had to be left in a corner because a belt holster or keeping it in a pocket would make the phone liable to breakage. Similarly working on a car or truck has the possibility of injury and a call to 911. The Sonim solves that. Its push-to-talk button could be a life saver.I use a service which resells T-Mobile for $8 a month. I wanted this phone for a long time. It lists for $449. For $150 less there are 2 things missing. There is reference to a memory card. And there is a specialty screwdriver. I got this phone with the intention of spending less time on my iPhone. I absolutely loved it. If you can’t tell from the photos, the phone is indestructible. As soon as you pick up the phone, you can tell it is quality. None of my friends noticed any sound difference from my iPhone to this. Of course, texting can be difficult if you have big fingers, but that is with all old “dumb” phones. Absolutely loved this purchase.
